Montenegrin Volleyball Players Stage a Comeback to Earn a Point Against Hungary

Following a strong opening and a convincing win over Kosovo in the European Volleyball Championship, Montenegro’s women’s pioneering national team secured a point in a thrilling match, ultimately losing to Hungary 3:2 (25:17, 20:25, 15:25, 25:18, 15:9).

In the second round of Group 2, our pioneers began the match with a 3:0 lead, but their opponents quickly responded, leveling the game at 14:14. Hungary then surged ahead with a seven-point streak, establishing a crucial advantage at 21:14, allowing them to close the first set at 25:17.

Montenegro responded strongly in the second set, showing exceptional play right from the start. Led by Sofija Duletić, who scored six points, and Elena Jovanović with four, the team built a substantial nine-point lead at 14:5.

Although Hungary narrowed the gap to just one point at 21:20 in the final moments of the set, the talented Montenegrins quickly regrouped, scoring the next four points to secure the set at 25:20, highlighted by a crucial block from Jana Mrdak.

The Montenegrin team continued their impressive performance into the third set, maintaining control and showing dominance throughout. Klara Đukić excelled, contributing eight points, while Elena Jovanović delivered a fantastic serve that helped turn the tide and give Montenegro a 2:1 lead at 25:15.
