Selector Suzana Lazović expressed her dissatisfaction with the draw in Vienna, which revealed that Portugal will be the opponent in the upcoming two-match playoff for the 2025 World Cup, scheduled in Germany and the Netherlands.
“While the draw’s outcome is acceptable, our opponent could have been easier than Portugal; however, there were also more formidable teams. In today’s modern handball, no team can be taken lightly, as many nations are investing significantly. Our goal is clear – we need to prepare extensively for April, and I have confidence that we will be fully prepared for that match. In March, we are planning friendly matches against a team that mirrors Portugal’s playing style; we will showcase our readiness,” Lazović emphasized.
