Greek women are too strong for our pioneers in Pristina

“Greek Women: A Force to be Reckoned with for Our Pioneers in Pristina”

The pioneering Montenegrin women’s national volleyball team faced a setback against Greece, losing 3:0 (25:19, 25:20, 25:17) in the third round of the European Championship taking place in Pristina and Tirana.

Coach Petar Koković’s squad struggled to counter the Greek team’s strong performance, which took the lead early in the match. Greece surged ahead with a crucial 11:7 advantage, extending their lead to a maximum of six points, ultimately taking the first set 25:19.

The “reds” showed improved form in the second set, initially leading 17:12. However, the Greek team effectively closed the gap and flipped the score in their favor. Montenegro missed the opportunity to level the match, allowing Greece to secure the second set 25:20 and take a 2:0 lead in sets.

In the final set, Montenegro continuously played catch-up. The Greek team maintained control throughout, claiming a decisive 3:0 victory with a score of 25:17.

Montenegro’s standout players included Jana Mrdak with 13 points and Klara Đukić with 11 points, while Teodora Lekaki led the winning team with an impressive 19 points.

Saturday marks a day off in the championship in Pristina and Tirana. The national team will return to the competition on Sunday, facing Croatia at 12:30 p.m.
