Montenegro’s President Jakov Milatović has declared that the Metropolitan of the Montenegrin-coastal region, Amfilohije, merits a monument.
“I believe that Metropolitan Amfilohije is a significant figure in our contemporary history. He has my utmost respect, and I firmly believe that he deserves a monument. However, I prefer not to discuss the specifics related to technical aspects,” stated Milatović.
During his visit to the new M TV in Podgorica last night, he expressed that it is completely natural for such a monument to be established, just like any other in Montenegro, in compliance with the law.
“I am confident that the relevant authorities will ensure that this happens, and I believe many citizens share my viewpoint,” Milatović remarked.
Following the rejection of the request for a monument by the Ministry of Culture and the Media, the Minister was held accountable, resulting in his recall due to lost missions concerning both the citizens and the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC).
Minister Vujović has today submitted a proposal to the Government of Montenegro, seeking prior approval to the Municipality of Berane for the establishment of a memorial for the Metropolitan, accompanied by extensive justification for the late Metropolitan Amfilohije.
The Metropolitan of the Montenegrin-coastal region, Amfilohije, passed away on October 30, 2020, and was laid to rest in the crypt of the Podgorica Temple of Christ’s Resurrection.
