Jovanka Radičević played her final match in the Crimean jersey against Ludwigsburg, marking the end of her celebrated career. The iconic Montenegrin handball player bid farewell with an emotional message on social media, sharing nostalgic photos from her childhood and career.

“Today, I conclude an incredible journey. My last Champions League match was more than just a game; it was a reflection on my life over 26 years dedicated to handball, my team, my victories, and that indescribable thrill when the ball hits the net. Every cheer, every embrace, every tear at the end is something I’ll cherish forever!” Jovanka expressed, adding:

“I am thankful for the chance to be part of the handball elite for 21 consecutive years, to wear the jerseys of the clubs I represented proudly, and to fight until my last breath. Even though I am hanging up my jersey and leaving the court, handball will always reside within me!”

“A heartfelt thank you to my family for enduring all these years and everything we’ve experienced together.”

Throughout her illustrious career in the Montenegrin jersey, Jovanka secured an Olympic silver medal in London 2012 and became the European champion with the “lionesses” in Belgrade the same year. She concluded her performance at the continental championship in Ljubljana two and a half years ago, claiming a bronze medal.

Jovanka started her club journey with Buducnost, later played for Győr, Vardar, and ĆSM Bucharest, returned to Podgorica, and also represented Turkish club Kastamonu and Krim.

Known fondly as Joka, she captured one Champions League title, two European Cup Winners’ Cup trophies, and holds the record for being the top scorer in the history of elite European club competitions.
