Suzana Lazović, head coach of the Montenegrin women’s handball team, has revealed the roster for the upcoming matches against Portugal in the World Championship play-off.

The first match will take place in Montenegro on April 9th, followed by the return match at the Bemax Arena in Podgorica just three days later.

These contests mark the national team’s first official games since the EHF Euro 2024, where the team finished in eighth place under coach Suzana Lazović’s guidance.

For the upcoming doubleheader against Portugal, coach Lazović has selected 16 players, including 11 who participated in the recent EHF Euro 2024.

New additions to the squad since the continental competition include goalkeeper Marija Marsenić, defenders Nada Ćorović, Ilda Kepić, and Marija Božović, along with right winger Anastasija Marsenić. The only debutant is defender Marija Božović from the Czech Republic’s Kinžvart.

After EHF Euro 2024, Milena Raičević and Marina Rajčić announced their retirement from the national team, while Đurđina Jauković was appointed as the new captain during EHF Week in March, with Tatjana Brnović as her deputy.

The World Championship is scheduled to take place in Germany and the Netherlands from November 26 to December 14.

The roster includes – goalkeepers: Armel Atingre, Marta Batinović, Marija Marsenić;

pivots: Tatjana Brnović, Ivana Godeč, Andrijana Tatar;

left wings: Ivona Pavicevic, Dijana Mugosa;

right wing: Anastasija Marsenić;

left backs: Đurđina Jauković, Nada Ćorović, Ilda Kepić;

center backs: Matea Pletikosić, Marija Božović;

right backs: Katarina Dzaferovic, Jelena Vukcevic
