The Mornar basketball team faced their 20th loss of the season, but coach Mihailo Pavićević found little to criticize in their performance, as they displayed more promise in these 40 minutes than in several previous matches in the AdmiralBet ABA League.

“Every defeat is difficult, particularly given our current situation. Ultimately, quality and experience played pivotal roles. What we offered them through our mistakes, they eagerly embraced and capitalized on. I want to commend my players for a solid 30 minutes of play, specifically the first 15 minutes of the first half,” Pavićević remarked, adding:

“With the score at 36:23 and just five minutes left in the game, we lost our focus, failing to give up a single point initially. They then executed an 11:0 run due to our defensive lapses, allowing them to re-enter the game. Although we had some positive moments in the second half where we scored seven points, this year, we are struggling with experience in the ABA League. Instead of securely maintaining our lead and playing intelligently, we become flustered and end up squandering our hard-earned advantage.”

Mornar currently sits at the bottom of the standings, with only one win across 21 games.

“It is what it is. The 30 minutes of solid play against a quality opponent is encouraging, giving us hope as we move toward the end of the season. The challenge lies in our short rotation; we faltered in the last five minutes of the first half and the final three minutes of the game. In those moments, focus tends to wane, and Spartak took full advantage of that,” Pavićević concluded.
