DPM Ivanović Holds Meeting with Slovenia’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Anžej Frangeš

The Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, Filip Ivanović, welcomed Anžej Frangeš, the Special Envoy of the Republic of Slovenia for the Western Balkans, during his farewell visit.

The discussion centered around the current political situation in Montenegro and the Government’s accomplishments in implementing essential reforms required for EU membership. Emphasis was placed on the timeline and expectations regarding Montenegro’s EU accession process, especially considering the nation’s goal of joining the Union by 2028.

Topics also included regional issues such as stability in the Western Balkans, collaboration among neighbouring countries, and their shared relationship with the European Union. Montenegro’s lead position in the EU integration efforts within the Western Balkans was notably emphasized.

The officials exchanged perspectives on global issues that impact the security and stability of the region, as well as the overall dynamics of EU enlargement. The recent summit of Western Balkans leaders in Skopje was discussed in this regard.

Mr. Frangeš expressed gratitude for the fruitful cooperation thus far and highlighted the need to further strengthen the robust partnership between Slovenia and Montenegro.

Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović thanked Mr. Frangeš for his committed engagement and valuable contributions to enhancing bilateral relations, along with Slovenia’s steadfast support for Montenegro’s European aspirations.
