The Budućnost Voli basketball team upheld their status as favorites against Cedevita Olimpija with a score of 95:78, marking their 12th consecutive win in the AdmiralBet ABA League.
Coach Andrej Žakelj expressed his concerns ahead of the matchup with the “dragons,” but the Podgorica squad maintained their dominance over their opponents…
“We were apprehensive about this game, but our approach was correct. We started strong, managed the game well, although we experienced a slight lapse in focus, allowing some distractions to take over. This gave Cedevita Olimpija an opportunity to close the gap, but we responded effectively when they got within six points,” Žakelj stated.
“We merited this victory. The confidence built from previous matches is still evident, and we need to preserve that. I reminded the team in the locker room that this self-assurance must carry over into our next game, which is crucial,” he added.
Next up is a clash against Turk Telekom in the round of 16 of the Eurocup, scheduled for Wednesday in Ankara.
“I believe Turk Telekom earned their position in their group. They have three or four key players around whom their game revolves, but it all comes down to one match, and with them being the hosts, the pressure is on them. We’re heading there with the belief that we can win,” Žakelj concluded.
