Mason Greenwood has faced numerous challenges at just 23, shifting from being a promising player for Manchester United to one whose presence was unwelcome at Old Trafford.

Accused of rape and physical abuse by his ex-girlfriend, and later acquitted, he experienced suspension from United and was advised to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Choosing to leave England, Greenwood found a new home in Spain. Despite personal turmoil, he showcased his on-field prowess at Getafe, reminding fans of his talent.

During his time there, he scored 10 goals and provided six assists, attracting the interest of Olympique de Marseille.

Though some in Provence, including the mayor and certain fans, were hesitant about his transfer, Greenwood quickly diverted focus back to his performance on the pitch.

“I knew there would be judgments based on what people saw and heard online. I was raised to believe that violence and abuse in any relationship are unacceptable. I didn’t do what I was accused of, and I was acquitted,” Greenwood stated.

Initially a midfielder, Greenwood has transformed into a versatile forward, lethal with both feet and possessing a sharp understanding of the game.

He quickly started making an impact at the “Velodrome”, prompting coach Roberto de Zerbi to ensure Greenwood remained grounded.

In March, he benched Greenwood for a couple of matches, questioning his work ethic.

“No one respects him more than I do, but I expect more. His current output isn’t enough. To achieve his ambition of being a champion, he must be more consistent and determined,” De Zerbi remarked.

Greenwood responded to the challenge, scoring consistently and helping Marseille secure a Champions League berth. In Ligue 1, he netted 19 goals and assisted four times.

Only Ousmane Dembélé outperformed him in the French league this season; Dembélé has scored 21 goals and provided six assists.

Discussions about Greenwood’s potential return to England have intensified, with interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool, along with rumors linking him to Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Greenwood has started a family and embraced fatherhood…

“I acknowledge that I made mistakes and take responsibility for my past social media issues,” Greenwood explained.
