Crnogorska komercijalna banka, part of OTP Group, is now the principal sponsor of the women’s handball club Budućnost.

The partnership was formalized through a contract signed by Tamaš Kamaraši, President of the CKB Board of Directors, and Saša Mujović, the Mayor of the Capital City.

This agreement signifies the commencement of collaboration between the leading bank in the region and the most decorated club in Montenegro.

“OTP Group and CKB will play a pivotal role in supporting Budućnost during a significant season—the club’s 30th in the EHF Champions League. In the upcoming season, our club will bear a new name—Women’s Handball Club OTP Group Budućnost—with the aspiration to proudly represent the Capital and Montenegro among the top 16 teams in Europe,” the announcement stated.

Mayor Saša Mujović expressed that sports clubs serve as the finest representatives and ambassadors of Podgorica, uniting youth, instilling core values, fostering spirit, will, and promoting respect among competitors.

“Investing in sports and academia is not just an obligation. It represents a superior way of showing responsibility and dedication towards our state and society. It is challenging to build a promising future without honoring tradition and a bright past. To make progress and create new values, we must pay respect to the symbols of our city. ŽRK Budućnost is a source of pride for Podgorica,” Mujović remarked.

“The revered Morača Sports Center’s legacy is notably tied to the club’s achievements and our heroines who have been favorites in Podgorica’s sports scene for years,” he continued.

He underscored the necessity of financially bolstering the club to sustain its success, encourage young girls to engage in handball, and contribute to the national team’s triumphs.

“The capital has earmarked funds, but we value the support from credible partners. It is an honor to have OTP Bank as our general sponsor. A bank with outstanding business achievements, that has thrived in the capital’s and Montenegro’s business landscape for many years, is an exceptional fit, showcasing trust in our country and the favorable economic environment fostered by the current Government,” Mujović stated.

He highlighted that the contract signing reflects the new city administration’s prudent financial management regarding the citizens of Podgorica’s budget.

“Rather than increasing budget expenditures, we have opted to proactively seek additional funding by inviting successful business entities to join us as partners. This is a strategy we intend to pursue,” Mujović added.

Tamas Kamarasi, President of the CKB Board of Directors, remarked that Budućnost has forged an inspiring sports legacy, evidenced by its triumphs across various levels from domestic leagues to prominent European venues.

He described it as a European narrative about champions.

“The qualities of resilience, teamwork, and the quest for excellence that Budućnost embodies resonate strongly with OTP Group, which was recognized as the best bank in Europe by Standard & Poor’s last year. Hence, it was a natural and logical decision for OTP Group to align itself with Budućnost. Leaders recognize leaders,” Kamarasi stated.

He emphasized that both ŽRK Budućnost and OTP Group share fundamental values: a commitment to success, persistence, and the pursuit of excellence.

“For us, the partnership with ŽRK Budućnost transcends mere sponsorship; it signifies a blend of shared values, strength, and vision. ŽRK OTP Grupa Budućnost will emerge as a symbol of success, trust, and a unified journey toward new victories,” Kamarasi concluded.

ŽRK Budućnost recently celebrated its 76th anniversary, having secured 77 trophies, including six European titles, establishing itself as one of the most esteemed brands in Montenegrin sports.

The collaboration between ŽRK Budućnost and CKB represents a substantial advancement toward bolstering women’s handball in Montenegro and striving for new sporting achievements, as highlighted in the post-signing announcement.
