Bayern is keen on acquiring Florian Wirz, and the player himself envisions a future at Munich. However, the situation is still unresolved, particularly with the increasing interest from Manchester City.

Recent reports from German media suggested that Wirz attempted to pressure Bayer into granting him a transfer exclusively to Bayern. However, this coincided with reports of him and his parents spending two days in Manchester.

They visited England at City’s invitation, where the club outlined a plan in which Florian and his father, who acts as his agent, Hans-Joachim, would have a significant role.

According to journalists from the UK, “Pep Guardiola has only Wirz in mind, believing him to be the ideal successor to Kevin de Bruyne.”

Upon returning from Manchester, Hans-Joachim Wirz declined to comment to the media, but Bayer’s president, Fernando Caro, was willing to address the situation.

“We were taken aback by the rumors that Wirz has an agreement with Bayern. That is not the case; we maintain regular communication with Florian and his family, and our relationship is built on trust,” said Caro.

Wirz is contracted until 2027.

“It’s completely understandable for Wirz to consider his future, but we remain calm — there is a contract, and any club interested in him knows the necessary steps to take. Bayern? Certainly, Bayern can submit an offer. However, what we and the Wirz family know is that no one has approached Bayern yet,” Caro emphasized.

Bayern recognizes the challenges in retaining Wirz, with insider information suggesting the club would not entertain offers below 150 million euros.

“We will see what the transfer window holds, but we all prefer that key matters are addressed swiftly. Right now, our primary focus is on promoting the coach,” Caro concluded.

The Bundesliga season wraps up this weekend, after which Ćabi Alonso will depart Bayer to take over at Real Madrid.
