Denver Falls Short as Jokic Misses Triple-Double with No Assists
The Boston Celtics triumphed over the Denver Nuggets with a score of 110:103 (32:20, 29:28, 22:29, 27:26) in their home arena tonight, ending a two-game NBA losing streak.
Throughout most of the game, Boston maintained the lead, even extending it to 20 points at two different points: at the end of the second quarter and at the start of the third.
Denver fought back and narrowed the gap to 83:77 by the end of the third quarter.
With just 1 minute and 15 seconds remaining, Denver closed in to just three points behind (102:99) thanks to scoring from Jamal Murray. However, on the next possession, Derrick White responded with a basket for Boston, and Al Horford sealed the win for the defending champions.
Jaylen Brown had a standout performance for Boston, contributing 22 points, eight assists, and five rebounds. Al Horford added 19 points and eight rebounds, while Derrick White contributed 17 points. Jayson Tatum achieved a double-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists.
Jamal Murray led the charge for Denver with 26 points, alongside seven assists and six rebounds. Christian Brown also excelled, scoring 24 points, with six rebounds and four steals. Meanwhile, Serbian center Nikola Jokic nearly recorded a triple-double, finishing with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists.
Currently, Boston ranks second in the Eastern Conference with a record of 43 wins and 18 losses, while Denver holds second place in the Western Conference with a record of 39 wins and 22 losses.
Looking ahead, Boston will face Portland at home, and Denver will host Sacramento.
