The Regional Water Supply System has reported that during the construction of the Tivat – Jaz boulevard, the main pipeline of the Regional Water Supply System was inadvertently damaged by the contractor, the Chinese firm “Shandong,” and the subcontractor, “Bemax.”

This incident resulted in a temporary disruption of water supply for the municipalities of Kotor and Tivat. It’s important to note that this is not the first occurrence of negligence by the contractor on this route. In previous cases, the Regional Waterworks has exercised its contractual rights and pursued actions to seek compensation for the damages incurred. Our technical teams are currently on-site, diligently working to restore the service, and we are taking all necessary steps to ensure repairs are completed promptly. The preliminary estimate is that repairs will be finalized and regular water supply reinstated by 8:00 p.m.,” emphasized the state-owned company.

Although such damages typically require up to 24 hours for full repair, our teams, drawing on past experiences with similar incidents, acted swiftly and efficiently, facilitating a quicker resolution to the issue.

“We want to highlight that, in accordance with an agreement with the mayors of Tivat, Kotor, and Herceg Novi, the Regional Water Supply Company has opted to refrain from relocating the pipeline after June 1. This decision aims to prevent similar issues during the peak summer months when water consumption is at its highest, and a reliable water supply is crucial for both residents and tourists along the coast. We ask for the citizens’ patience and understanding during the rehabilitation period. The Regional Water Supply Company remains dedicated to the rapid and efficient restoration of the system, as well as to transparently communicating all essential details to the public,” the statement concluded.
