Yesterday, Democratic MPs Anđela Vojinović and Nikola Rovčanin, along with Democratic Presidency member Neven Gošović, visited the residents of Šavnik, who have been actively advocating in the streets for months to finally complete the electoral process in the municipality, specifically concerning the seven-year term of Mayor Jugoslav Jakić.

During the visit, they presented the citizens of Šavnik with the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on the Voters’ Register—an initiative recently submitted by the Democrats to the Parliament of Montenegro for expedited review, as stated by the political party. They emphasized that this law is essential for lifting Şavnik out of its prolonged stalemate.

They provided a detailed explanation of the proposal to the citizens, assuring them that they would strive to uphold the electoral will of the populace, facilitate the unblocking of this northern municipality, and maintain the integrity of Montenegro’s electoral system. The Democrats affirmed that Šavnik must not remain a hostage of the Democratic Party of Socialists.

Additionally, the party’s MPs from Šavnik urged all parliamentary factions in the Parliament of Montenegro to endorse this proposal, thereby aiding in the timely execution of elections in this municipality.
