The goalkeeper for Los Blancos has reportedly requested his former teammate and friend, Juan Rodriguez, to send him a video involving sexual activity with two girls, aged 18 and 16, which he did.

A significant aggravating factor for the 22-year-old Spaniard is that he was aware one of the individuals was a minor at the time he requested the recording. Furthermore, the video was obtained without the participants’ knowledge and consent, as reported by local media.

After receiving the material, Asensio shared the video with a third party via a single WhatsApp message on June 21, 2023.

The involvement of one of Spanish football’s most promising defenders only came to light recently, following Rodriguez’s confession to the police about his friend’s participation.

The judicial authority has approved the transition of a previously initiated process into a criminal investigation, indicating that Asensio may face serious consequences for his actions.

In his defense, he claimed he was only part of a WhatsApp group chat at the time the content was shared, suggesting that the recordings were not sent directly to him. He also stated that he forwarded the material to one of the girls’ boyfriends, arguing that this should not be deemed a mitigating circumstance.
