Montenegrin goalkeeper Nebojša Simić capped off a remarkable season with another impressive performance, this time at the renowned “Lanks Arena” in Cologne, having previously secured the goal against Melzungen.
The “Reds” from Hesse, who currently share the Bundesliga lead with Fuchs Berlin, are also set to compete in the German Cup final.
Melzungen triumphed over Balingen in the semifinals (31:27) and will be challenging the giants Kiel for the cup tomorrow (Friday, 15:35 PM).
“Zebra” managed to defeat Rhein Neckar Leuven in the first semi-final, taking it 32:31 after an intense overtime.
Simić delivered another stellar performance, recording 11 saves and playing a crucial role in Melzungen’s third final appearance.
Despite falling short in the previous two cup attempts in 2020 and 2024, he now has a significant opportunity for a historic win.
In contrast, the four-time European champions have claimed the cup title on 12 occasions, with their last victory in this competition occurring in 2022.
