The Croatian Parliament has adopted the Law on Exceptional Price Control Measures with a majority vote. This law aims to protect citizens’ living standards from inflation through online publication of prices and rapid response to market fluctuations.

Retailers are required to regularly update and publish the prices of all products on their websites, allowing customers to access digital tools for real-time price comparison.

Each retailer must clearly indicate the current retail price alongside the previous retail price of a product from a specified period or date. This initiative facilitates better monitoring of price changes and provides consumers with transparent information, according to Tanjug.

This law, which takes effect upon its publication in the Official Gazette, also establishes price limits for essential products and services, along with specific labeling for items with regulated prices.

As a result, retailers must display visual indicators for products with controlled prices. In stores larger than 400 square meters, they are also required to create designated sales sections for these products.
