The Montenegrin handball team has faced an unexpected setback – within a short span, our national squad is now without its two primary goalkeepers, Nebojša Simić and Nikola Matović, due to long-term injuries.
Both players have suffered torn anterior cruciate ligaments and it appears the “Lions” will be without their services for the upcoming European Championship in January.
The Handball Federation of Montenegro is providing support to Simić and Matović during this challenging time.
“In just 15 days, our national team has endured two significant losses – due to serious injuries, we will be without two remarkable athletes who are crucial to our team for an extended duration,” announced the RSCG, adding:
“Nebojša, our seasoned goalkeeper and a true emblem of Montenegrin handball, along with Nikola, his capable successor with a promising future, have continually demonstrated their dedication while representing Montenegro. We are confident in your resilience, character, and fighting spirit – the same qualities that have inspired us on the field for years.”
The federation expressed their hopes for a smooth recovery.
“We stand by you at every turn on your road to recovery. We look forward to your triumphant return, ready to contribute to the national team once again and to pursue new victories with your teammates,” concluded the Handball Federation of Montenegro.
