Montenegro Secures Bronze at the Balkan Championship in Pljevlja
The U16 Montenegrin women’s national volleyball team proudly secured the bronze medal at the Balkan Volleyball Championship held in Pljevlja.
Our talented athletes achieved victories over North Macedonia and Greece, although they faced defeats against Bulgaria and Turkey.
The U16 Balkan Championship took place from June 19 to June 23 in Pljevlja, organized by the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, with support from the Ministry of Sports, the Municipality of Pljevlja, the Coal Mine, and the Pljevlja Health Center.
The Bulgarian team claimed first place, winning all four of their matches, while the Turkish team secured second place. Our rising stars triumphed in third place, earning the bronze medal.
The Captain’s Cup for the champions, the Bulgarian national team, was presented by Nikola Kažić, President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro.
The gold medals for the Bulgarian team were awarded by Jovana Tošić, President of the Pljevlja Municipal Assembly, alongside Ivan Bošković, Secretary General of OSCG.
Jovana Tošić also presented the plaque for second place to the Turkish team, while Darko Gazdić, Vice President of the Pljevlja Municipality, and Ivan Ječmenica, Director of the OSCG Men’s National Team, awarded the silver medals.
The plaque for third place was presented to our volleyball players by Darko Gazdić. The bronze medals were awarded by Jadranko Lončar, financial director of Rudnik Pljevlja, and Milica Sekulić, secretary of the Secretariat for Sports and Youth of the Municipality of Pljevlja.
Individual awards for the tournament’s standout performers were handed out by Ksenija Božović, director of the women’s selections at OSCG.
The MVP title of the U16 Balkan Women’s Volleyball Championship was awarded to Joana Nancheva from Bulgaria, while the best technician was Ela Demirag from Turkey. Çagla Çaglayander and Selis Turkyaşar, both from Turkey, were recognized as the best setter and best serve receiver, respectively. The best middle blocker award went to Antonia Stanislavova from Bulgaria, and her teammate Magdalena Bogdanova was named the best libero. The fair play award was bestowed upon Sara Striković from Montenegro.
In the final match of the tournament, the Montenegrin national team was defeated by the Turkish national team with a score of 3:1 (25:22, 25:17, 24:26, 25:21).
