This season’s Champions League has proven challenging for the Primorje water polo team, but under the leadership of Zoran Maslovar, they are undefeated so far in the Eurocup. At the “Zoran-Džimi Gopčević” swimming pool, they achieved four victories during the qualifying tournament. They opened group D with a narrow 9:8 win against Trieste and aim to maintain their winning streak in tonight’s match against Panionios at 18:00.

Panionios leads the Greek domestic championship, but they suffered a loss in their opening game of the second-highest European competition, falling to Ortigia 13:12. The team, managed by Konstadinos Dimu, arrives as a slight favorite, boasting players such as Greek national representative Constadinos Juvecis, former player Alexandros Gunas, left-handed Montenegrin representative Aleks Ukropin, and fellow citizen Nikola Moskva, who was the top scorer against Ortigia with four goals.

Kotor’s players have one focus: to win and extend their impressive run of 13 consecutive victories, starting with their recent Champions League qualifier against Duisburg, followed by five in the Eurocup and seven in the Regional A1 League.

“We approach the match with a positive mindset and a long winning streak in both the Adriatic League and Europe. The team is motivated, ready, and healthy. We will have our strongest lineup and hope for a full pool to support us in achieving victory,” said assistant coach Zoran Maslovar, See Lompar.

Drasko Brguljan and his teammates are determined to keep the momentum going.

“The players are prepared, and we respect our opponent. Panionios is a strong team, undefeated in the Greek championship, and they recently defeated Vouliagmeni away. They have several current and former Greek national team members, along with our own Ukropina and Moskva, making it a well-rounded squad,” emphasized Lompar.
