Bochum and Holstein Kiel to Compete in Zweibrücken Next Season, Leipzig Exits Champions League

Bochum’s squad faced relegation from the Bundesliga today after suffering a 1:4 defeat at home against Mainz in the penultimate match of the 33rd round.
Mainz opened the scoring with a goal from Nadim Amiri in the third minute of first-half stoppage time, and Philip Mwene doubled their lead in the 54th minute.
Jonatan Burkart added a third goal in the 73rd minute, while Gerit Holtman managed to score for the home team in the 84th minute. Paul Nebel sealed the final score with a goal in the third minute of stoppage time.
Bochum is now at the bottom of the standings with 22 points and has been relegated from the Bundesliga for the seventh time in its history. Mainz sits in sixth place with 51 points. Holstein Kiel also faced relegation today after losing 1:2 at home to Freiburg.
The home side initially took the lead with a goal from Lasse Rosenbohm in the 24th minute, but Johan Mazanby equalized in the second minute of first-half stoppage time. Lucas Holler secured the victory for Freiburg in the 58th minute.
Holstein is second to last in the table with 25 points, while Freiburg still has a chance to qualify for the Champions League, sitting in fourth place with 55 points.
Heidenheim triumphed over Union with a 3:0 scoreline in Berlin, ensuring at least a spot in the relegation play-off.
The goals came from double scorer Adrijan Bek, who netted in the 12th and 73rd minutes, along with a goal from Jan Šopner in the 56th minute.
Heidenheim’s tally now stands at 29 points in 16th place, which leads to the play-offs, while they are two points behind St. Pauli in 15th place with a game in hand. Union currently occupies 13th place with 37 points.
Werder Bremen ended their match against Leipzig in a 0-0 draw at home in Bremen. This result dashed Werder’s hopes of qualifying for European competition, while Leipzig also missed out on a Champions League spot.
Leipzig is seventh in the standings with 51 points, while Werder is eighth with 48. Bayern Munich is set to face Borussia Monchengladbach later today.
