Buducnost Falls to Turk Telekom
In their third away game of the season in Turkey, the Buducnost Voli basketball team was unable to secure a victory, succumbing to Turk Telekom in the Eurocup playoffs in Ankara by a score of 93:73, thus concluding their season in European competitions.
Coach Andrej Žakelj’s squad now shifts its focus to securing the top position in the regular season of the AdmiralBet ABA League and ensuring home-court advantage for the playoffs.
From the outset, the home team seized control of the game at the “Ankara Arena.” In the first quarter, Turk Telekom established a significant lead, embarking on a 13:0 run to dominate 24:9. They extended their advantage to 18 points in the first half (39:21), but Fletcher Magee found his rhythm, and alongside Jovanović, Buducnost rallied with a 10-point streak to close the gap to 39:31.
As halftime approached, the home team reestablished their double-digit lead (48:36), but Buducnost kicked off the third quarter strongly, narrowing the deficit to six points with McKinley Wright leading the charge at 48:42.
The “blues” found themselves trailing by six points on two occasions (50:44 and 52:46) yet couldn’t close in on Erdem Çan’s side’s lead.
At the opening of the final quarter, Rashid Sulajmon cut the deficit to 64:55, marking the last moment Buducnost was within single digits.
In the following possession, Bes drained a three-pointer from beyond eight meters, and after a free throw from Joan Makundu, Turk Telekom surged ahead by 16 points (73:57), eventually clinching a maximum lead of 22 points by the game’s conclusion.
Buducnost played without Jogi Ferrell and Andrija Slavkovic, with Megi leading the scoring with 16 points. Kamenjas contributed 12 points while Wright added 11.
Rashid Sulaiman scored nine points but unfortunately missed all nine of his attempts from three-point range.
