The Boxing Association Officially Recognized as a Full Member of the MOC

The Assembly of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee (COC) has officially recognized the Boxing Federation (BSCG) as a full member of Montenegro’s main sports association.

Today’s regular session of the MOC Assembly took place in Podgorica, attended by representatives from national sports federations, the Board of Directors, sports authorities, and other guests.

President of the MOC, Dušan Simonović, chaired the session. Alongside him in the Working Presidency were Ljiljana Vučević and Đuro Marić.

At the start of the Assembly, the status of BSCG was confirmed, as it has met all required formal and program criteria, including its affiliation with the relevant international boxing organization.

“The Assembly acknowledged their status as full members of the MOC, facilitating the establishment of their delegates’ mandates,” the statement indicated.

During the session, Mihael Čepić, Director of the National Anti-Doping Organization of Austria and President of the Central European Anti-Doping Organization (CEADO), spoke about the responsibilities of athletes and sports organizations in the anti-doping fight.

“Montenegro is part of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) mentoring program, where NADA Austria provides expert guidance to the National Anti-Doping Commission,” the statement reported.

Čepić commended the collaboration with Montenegro’s Anti-Doping Commission, led by director Neda Ojdanić, emphasizing her exceptional dedication and professional relations that significantly enhance the nation’s anti-doping efforts.

Ojdanić shared some preliminary insights into the complexities of this field.

“Effective collaboration with international partners, commitment to advancing clean sports in Montenegro, and the swift integration of the national team into essential activities were emphasized,” the MOC stated.

The Assembly unanimously ratified new Rules of Procedure that outline operational protocols, including provisions for electronic sessions and online voting in emergencies.

The Financial Report for 2024 was also approved, receiving a favorable review from the independent auditor and the Supervisory Board, with no objections raised.

“The Financial Plan for 2025 was presented, detailing that a substantial portion of the budget—about 57 percent—will be allocated directly and indirectly to support sports organizations, coaches, and athletes,” the statement noted.

These funds are earmarked for preparations, training camps, development programs, educational initiatives, scholarships, and financial support for athletes and sports organizations, in addition to backing the national federations’ projects and participation in Olympic calendar competitions (including summer and winter EYOF and the Games of the Small States of Europe).

MOC President Dušan Simonović highlighted that this year’s plan strikes a balance between elite sports and the foundational aspects of the system, focusing on youth, coaching, athlete health, and fair conditions for all.

“A robust Olympic movement is predicated on strong institutions and security for those who represent us,” Simonović remarked.

The Assembly also approved reports regarding participation in the Winter EYOF in Bakuriani (Georgia), prepared by Head of Mission Marina Kosić Radović, the Games of the Small States of Europe in Andorra as prepared by Head of Mission Ivan Bošković, and the preparations for the Summer EYOF in Skopje (North Macedonia), prepared by Head of Mission Predrag Marsenić.

As of now, the MOC Assembly comprises 54 members. After verifying BSCG’s status and affirming their representatives’ mandates—attended by 39 members during the session—it was clarified that the report on the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris was previously reviewed and discussed per the agenda and procedural rules.

“This reaffirmed that all essential information and evaluations were timely provided to the Assembly members,” the statement added.

The Assembly members emphasized the need for ongoing constructive efforts and a collective responsibility to enhance the sports system, reiterating the Montenegrin Olympic Committee’s commitment to transparency, development, and athlete support.

“In this context, the Assembly concluded that sports demand seriousness, sustainment, and commitment from all system stakeholders, promoting future-focused energy towards improved conditions for athletes and the strengthening of the Olympic movement as a whole,” the statement said.

The Assembly unanimously adopted the new Rules of Procedure for the MOC Arbitration Body, outlining jurisdiction, rights protection, and a transparent arbitration process aligned with international standards.

Furthermore, the Assembly approved the admission of the Cycling Association, Triathlon Association, Golf Association, and Muay Thai Association as new MOC members. Simonović congratulated these new members and stressed the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing sports in Montenegro.

“It brings me joy to welcome new members to our Olympic family today. This signifies growth and integration in sports as well as our openness and readiness to support serious and dedicated efforts,” Simonović stated.

He asserted that today’s session exemplifies MOC as a serious, responsible, and transparent organization committed to strategically developing the sports system while addressing athletes’ and federations’ needs.

“I am confident that this year’s outcomes will demonstrate that we are not merely “filling gaps,” but aiming to make a significant impact,” Simonović concluded.
