Olympic Hope Tournament: Friday Highlights from Korčula
The water polo competition for younger categories, known as Olympic Hopes 2023/24, will kick off on Friday with a tournament in Korčula, featuring cadets (players born in 2010 and younger).
Olympic Hopes is an event organized by clubs from Montenegro and Dubrovnik-Neretva County, aiming to enhance the quality of water polo and foster relationships among participants.
The Water Polo and Swimming Association of Montenegro plays an active role in organizing this regional competition, further supporting it by providing cups and medals for the top three teams in each category.
Junior teams from Montenegrin clubs—Jadran, Primorac, Budva, Kataro, Aquatic Verde, Budućnost, Nikšić, and Mladost Bijela—as well as Croatian clubs—Jug, Cavtat, Gusar Mlini, Korčula, and Mornar—and one from Bosnia and Herzegovina—Jadran Neum—will participate.
The first tournament is scheduled from October 20 to 22 in the cadet category.
The host is Korčula, and eight clubs will compete, divided into two groups.
In Group A, the teams are Cavtat, Jug, Primorac, and Aquatic Verde, while Group B consists of Korčula, Budva, Jadran, and Nikšić.
Matches will determine placement in the final order, with group winners advancing to the final and the runners-up competing for third place.
The outcomes of the tournament will serve as a reference for Montenegrin clubs in determining the host for the tournament in the Montenegrin championship for younger categories.
Following the cadet tournament, events will also be held in junior (2006 and younger), junior junior (2008 and younger), junior cadet (2011 and younger), and junior (2012 and younger) categories.
