Montenegro Staying Committed to Implementing NATO Summit Resolutions
Defense Minister Dragan Krapović is attending the NATO Summit in The Hague, as part of a delegation headed by President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović.
On the first day of this two-day Summit, he participated in a working dinner with fellow defense ministers, discussing deterrence and defense, alongside ongoing support for Ukraine through NATO mechanisms.
It is vital for the Alliance to remain strong, well-equipped, and capable of addressing both current and future security challenges, according to the statements made by the NATO defense ministers.
The discussions centered on the necessity of increasing defense expenditures, as the intricate global situation demands ongoing investment in capabilities, capacity, and advanced technology. The new set of Capability Targets, which is significantly more challenging than its predecessor, reflects the genuine needs of the Alliance to maintain credibility during these difficult geopolitical times. The ministers underscored the importance of enhancing the feasibility of defense plans, bolstering the force structure, continuously improving command and control, and advancing the defense industry along with collaboration in this field.
Minister Krapović reaffirmed that Montenegro is fully dedicated to implementing the agreements reached at the NATO Summit. He highlighted Montenegro’s political commitment to achieving the specified level of defense spending, which entails a responsible and dedicated approach. He reminded that our nation consistently contributes to bolstering the deterrence and defense posture of the Alliance, particularly through our soldiers’ participation in combat groups stationed in Latvia and Bulgaria, as well as activities aimed at strengthening the eastern flank of the Alliance.
