“Playing in This Atmosphere is a True Delight”

Kotor is once more a hub for water polo—the dreary days when Primorac played to empty stands or elsewhere are now behind us.

This autumn, the water polo giants boast a formidable team, revived along with the enthusiastic support reminiscent of the 2009 European champions.

Zoran Maslovar’s squad, after a valiant effort, narrowly lost the Eurocup’s 2nd round match against Panionios (10:9), but delighted in the raucous crowd at the “Zoran Džimi Gopčević” swimming pool.

“Playing in such an atmosphere was truly enjoyable,” Maslovar stated post-match. “Even with the loss, I believe we performed admirably and our commitment, along with the crowd’s support, was outstanding. Facing a high-quality team like this was tough, yet the fighting spirit of our players made me proud.”

Primorac triumphed over Italian Trieste in the Eurocup’s opening round and nearly secured a win against the competitive Panionios, a club featuring Greek national players Konstantinos Giuvetsis and Murikis, alongside Montenegrins Aleksa Ukropina and Nikola Moskov.

“The attitude, conduct, and performances of our players captivated the audience and encouraged them to attend in such large numbers. I reminded them in our meeting that they have earned this, for their tenacity wins the hearts of everyone around us,” Maslovar remarked, according to Radio Kotor.

In the forthcoming two rounds, Primorac will embark on their first away match—in Italy against Ortiđa and Trieste—followed by a rematch with Panionios. A new European festival in Kotor is anticipated for the final round when Ortiđa visits the historic city.

The Eurocup battles will proceed with the top two teams from the group advancing.
