The relationship between Montenegro and Greece has traditionally been amicable and is marked by a robust alliance within NATO, which is particularly significant given the current geopolitical landscape.

This sentiment was expressed by the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, during a discussion with Greek President Konstantinos Tassoulas at the European Political Community Summit held in Tirana.

Milatović shared on the social media platform X that he addressed the historically positive relations between the two nations, as well as their mutual dedication to European values and the stability of the Western Balkans region.

“I extended my thanks to Greece for its unwavering support of Montenegro’s European journey, recalling the significance of the 2003 Thessaloniki Declaration, which established a European perspective for the nations of the Western Balkans,” Milatović stated.

He underscored Montenegro’s commitment to executing reforms aimed at completing the negotiation process and achieving EU membership by 2028.

“The meeting highlighted that our nations’ relationships are supported by a strong alliance within NATO, a crucial factor given the current geopolitical challenges,” added Milatović.

He also took the opportunity to invite Tasulas to Montenegro.
