Besiktas was unable to advance past Cedevita-Olimpija in the Eurocup playoffs, but Kyle Olman, the new member of the Montenegro national team, delivered an outstanding performance despite the loss.
The team, coached by Zvezdan Mitrović, won 96:86, with Olman achieving a remarkable double-double: 13 points and 14 assists.
Though he is stepping in for Kendrick Perry on the Montenegrin national team, Olman demonstrated that he can function exceptionally well within the team during the game in Ljubljana.
“If there were any positives to take away from the game at ‘Stožice’, it was Kyle Olman, who kept Besiktas competitive by stepping up during crucial moments,” reported the Turkish portal “Basketbol Gundem”.
The Brooklyn-born athlete, 27 years old, showed off his flair in the match against Cedevita-Olimpija, and his dunk following a pass from Emmanuel Terry is a contender for the best highlight of the Eurocup playoffs.
Olman’s statistics in Europe reflect his talent, averaging 10.6 points per game, along with 3.4 assists and 2.7 rebounds.
In the Turkish league, he is recording 9.7 points per game, with 4.4 assists and 2.1 steals.
Aside from his performance against Cedevita-Olimpija this season, Olman’s standout moment came in the quarterfinals of the Turkish Cup, where he led Besiktas to victory against Euroleague team Anadolu Efes.
Although the black and whites reached the final, they could not overcome Fenerbahçe.
Though Olman’s European dreams may have ended for this season, he will have another opportunity to shine on the international stage during EuroBasket this summer, hosted by Latvia, Poland, Finland, and Cyprus.
