Jelena Perović’s Favorable Verdicts Highlight Delays in Promised Reforms by the New Government

The rulings favoring the former director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK), Jelena Perović, serve as a clear indication that the new government has failed to execute the promised anti-corruption reforms in a timely manner, stated the Network for the Affirmation of the Non-Governmental Sector (MANS) in response to today’s “Vijesti” article.

“How many such cases must arise before the current administration finally begins to vet the judiciary? The verdicts in Perović’s favor starkly demonstrate that the new government has not fulfilled its commitment to timely anti-corruption reforms. Rather than making significant changes and establishing independent institutions, some have prioritized party infiltration, while others have increasingly appointed individuals from the previous regime to critical roles. We have consistently warned that delaying reforms would lead to these exact outcomes. However, the promises to combat corruption quickly diminished when positions took precedence over principles,” reads the Facebook post.
