The men’s handball team has firmly set its sights on the European Championship finals, making it unlikely for them to miss out. The upcoming two matches present a perfect opportunity to eliminate any lingering doubts.
The “Lions” are set to face Finland on Thursday, with a victory securing them second place, while Baru is scheduled to play against Slovakia on Sunday.
Coach Didier Dinar has a clear vision, but it’s crucial to approach Finland with respect:
“Finland effectively utilizes a seven-on-six strategy in attack, which we need to prepare our defense against. Despite the challenges, our goal is to secure wins in both matches,” Dinar emphasized.
The coach will be without goalkeepers Nebojša Simić and Nikola Matović, as well as right back Stefan Čavor, for these matches.
“My focus is solely on these two matches and ensuring we finish the qualifiers strong. We will review everything afterward. The injured players have significantly contributed to our progress thus far,” Dinar stated confidently.
Historically, Montenegro tends to perform better in the second match of the qualification cycle.
“The opening matches are unique, as players return after a break from national team duties. This adjustment period might explain the differences in performance in those initial games,” Dinar concluded.
