Engaging Strategy Game from Primorka Makes Its Mark in Sicily

The water polo team from Primorje rebounded from their earlier defeat to Panionios in the second round of their pool by securing a crucial victory in Sicily, keeping their hopes alive for a spot in the Eurocup round of 16.

The Kotor-based squad triumphed over Ortiđa with a score of 14:9, marking their second win in group D after previously defeating Trieste at home.

Zoran Maslovar’s team only trailed once in the match, during the opening minute, before taking control of the game as expected from the Montenegrin vice-champions.

By the end of the second quarter, Primorac was ahead 6:3 thanks to a goal from Angus Lembi. They later extended their lead to 8:5, but Ortiđa fought back.

Ortiđa managed to close the gap to two goals at one point, narrowing it to 8:7. However, Primorac effectively defended against every attack…

Responding under pressure from the home team, Primorac mounted a decisive 5:0 run (making it 13:7), effectively sealing the match midway through the last quarter.

In the winning team, Marko Gopčević, Marko Mršić, Tim Perov, and Nemanja Vico all scored twice, while Draško Brguljan, Nikola Marković, Angus Lembi, Balša Vučković, Petar Ćetković, and Đorđije Stanojević each contributed one goal.

For Ortigia, the legendary Stefano Tempesti’s team saw Yusuke Inaba shine, scoring four goals.

Primorac will be on the road again in the 4th round, heading to Trieste on November 16.
