During the second day of his visit to Denmark, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović held a meeting with the Chair of the European Committee Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark, Brigitte Klintskov Jerkel.

The discussion revolved around the dynamics of European integration, particularly in light of Denmark’s upcoming presidency of the EU Council in the latter half of the year. Minister Ibrahimović reaffirmed Montenegro’s commitment to fulfilling all necessary criteria in the coming months, aiming to prepare the country for EU membership by 2028.

He stated that Montenegro’s accession to the EU is beneficial not just for our country but also for the entire region, as it would signal that the enlargement policy remains active and is more crucial than ever. He emphasized that the European perspective for the Western Balkans is a strategic objective, reflecting a shared vision for a more stable and resilient Europe.

Brigitte Klintskov Jerkel, Chair of the European Committee Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark, underscored the significance of maintaining and enhancing regional stability and collective European security. Discussing the focal points of Denmark’s EU Council presidency, she made it clear that the enlargement policy will be included in the agenda.
