The President of Moldova, Maja Sandu, is scheduled to make an official visit to Montenegro on May 19, following an invitation from President Jakov Milatović, as announced today by the Public Relations Office of the President of Montenegro.

This marks the inaugural official visit by a Moldovan president to Montenegro.

According to the Public Relations Office, Sandu will receive a warm welcome at the Residence in Cetinje, complete with high state and military honors, and will then engage in discussions with the Montenegrin president.

“Following the signing of the guest book and a meeting of the delegations, the two presidents will make public statements and plant a tree symbolizing friendship in the Residence’s courtyard. In addition, President Sandu will pay her respects by laying a wreath at the Monument to the Partisan-Fighter on Gorica Hill, accompanied by President Milatović, followed by a formal lunch,” the statement elaborates.

The Public Relations Office further indicated that Sandu’s visit is a testament to “the strong ties between the two nations and represents a continuation of President Milatović’s active diplomatic efforts to enhance Montenegro’s international standing.”

“Moreover, President Sandu’s visit serves as a powerful indication of the potential for further strengthening bilateral relations, as well as mutual support for Montenegro and Moldova in their pursuit of full European Union membership,” stated the Public Relations Office of the President of Montenegro.
