Today, the first Blue Flag for 2025 was officially raised at “Pura Vida” beach in Drobno Pijesak. The flag was hoisted by Mladen Mikijelj, the Director of the Public Company for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of Montenegro, along with Vuk Žižić, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism.

Dijana Došljak, Head of the Service for the Protection and Sustainable Development of the Marine Domain, noted that this event symbolically represents another successful season.

“We have proudly been part of this program in Montenegro for 22 years, demonstrating each year that our goals are long-term and focused on preserving natural resources, which are essential for tourism, development, and a sustainable future,” she stated.

Saša Karajović, president of the NGO “EKOM”, mentioned that stricter criteria for the Blue Flag will be introduced next year, and expressed hope that beach tenants and users will continue to meet these standards.

“I am particularly pleased with the strong support we have received over the years from the Public Company for Coastal Zone Management and the Ministry of Tourism, who have recognized the significance of this program from the beginning and provided both logistical and financial backing,” Karajović added.

Žana Bracović, president of the national commission for awarding this distinction from the Ministry of Tourism, highlighted that this program signifies high environmental standards alongside quality health and safety measures at beaches and marinas.

Lazar Mijač, the tenant of the “Pura Vida” beach in Drobno Pijesak, shared that they have held this prestigious award for seven years and look forward to continuing this tradition.

“Many tourists visiting Montenegro specifically choose destinations that proudly display the Blue Flag, so I’d like to encourage more tenants and users to apply for the Blue Flag in the future to enhance tourism in Montenegro,” he stated.
