The thrilling final delivered all the excitement synonymous with a cup match—filled with dramatic moments, uncertainties, and skillful plays. Ultimately, Budva reclaimed the cup.

The Budvanska rivijera players triumphed over Mornar 7 in the Montenegrin Cup final, with a score of 21:20 (9:10), marking their second cup victory ever.

This showdown between the teams coached by Novica Rudović and Stevo Nikočević concluded with a nail-biting finish. Budva’s outstanding goalkeeper, Vasilije Vukajlović, executed his 14th save to deny Aleksa Ražnatović’s shot, preventing the game from going into extra time.

Though both teams are from the lower ranks of the SBbet First League of Montenegro, the match did not disappoint. Budva celebrates its new Cup victory, while Mornar can take pride in reaching the final for the first time.

Budva’s team initially threatened, with Novak Bajčeta and Luka Novaković putting them ahead twice (8:6 and 9:7), yet the Barani remained resilient.

Aleksa Ražnatović excelled in the first half, and after netting his fifth goal on as many attempts, Mornar headed to the halftime break with a 10:9 lead.

With the help of Jovan Kapisoda and another goal from Bajčeta, Budva regained a two-goal advantage after 48 minutes (16:14).

Aleksandar Mrvaljević had a chance to possibly seal the victory with 2 minutes and 13 seconds left, but Filip Junković made an incredible save. The ball stayed with Budvanska Riviera, leading Rudović to call a timeout. The carefully crafted play concluded perfectly with Aleksandar Glendža scoring to make it 21:19.

Mornar, however, remained tenacious, with Ražnatović cutting the deficit to 21:20. In the final seconds, he had an opportunity to equalize but Vukajlović capped off an outstanding day with another crucial stop.

In the victorious squad, Glendža was notable with six goals, while Bajčeta contributed five. For Mornar, Ražnatović also scored six times, followed by Sava Ražnatović and Božidar Nikočević with five each, while Junković recorded 10 saves.

The trophy heads to Budva for the second time, as Mornar must await their next chance to make history.

In terms of this tournament since Montenegro regained independence, Lovćen has been the dominant champion, clinching the title 13 times. Budvanska rivijera is now the sole team with two cups, while Berane, Sutjeska, Partizan, and Komovi each have one.
