We were fortunate, but no team should be overlooked any longer.

The Montenegrin women’s handball team had a favorable draw for the World Championship, according to head coach Suzana Lazović.
The “Lionesses” will compete in Group D against Spain, the Faroe Islands, and Paraguay.
“After reviewing the lineups across all groups, it seems we were fortunate with the draw, as we’ve steered clear of the toughest teams. However, we must not underestimate any opponent, particularly since the level of handball outside Europe has significantly improved,” Lazović remarked.
All of our competitors are familiar.
“In the European Championship qualifiers starting in October, we’ll get a chance to test ourselves against the Faroe Islands. Spain ranks at the top of world handball, while Paraguay is a team that continues to grow and enhance its performance annually. Montenegro faced Paraguay two years ago at the World Championship, but they’ve made considerable improvements since then and will be better prepared for our playing style now. Although Paraguay presents a unique challenge, we could have encountered a team from Africa or Asia that might have posed greater difficulties,” added Suzana.
The top three teams in the group will advance to the main round.
“Our objective is to maximize our team’s potential in the group stage and to achieve the placement we desire before advancing in the championship,” Lazović concluded.
The World Championship is set to take place from November 26 to December 14 in the Netherlands and Germany.
