“Barcelona Falls Short: Magdeburg and Berlin Prevail”

The EHF Champions League final for handball in Germany has arrived! The defending champion Barcelona faced a tough match in Cologne, ultimately succumbing to Magdeburg with a score of 31:30, while Berlin triumphed over Nantes in the first semi-final, winning 34:24.

For the majority of the match, Barça maintained the lead and entered the final 73 seconds with a one-goal advantage.

Unfortunately, Karlsbogard received a red card, followed by Vane’s dismissal during the same play after a seven-meter shot, which Tim Hornke converted to equalize at 30:30.

Barcelona attempted an attack without a goalkeeper but remained a player short, resulting in Richardson’s shot being saved by Magdeburg’s goalkeeper.

The final play was executed by Hornke, who made his move with just one second remaining in the 60th minute.

Barça faced misfortune as Dika Mem suffered an injury with ten minutes left in the semi-final.

Ingi Magnusson led the scoring for the winning team with 11 goals, followed by Tim Hornke with seven, Albin Lagergren with four, and Felix Klar with three.

For Barcelona, Dika Mem was the top scorer with eight goals, while Timothy N’Gussen added five, and both Melvin Richardson and Dimen Makut scored four and three respectively, alongside Aitor Bengoechea, who also netted three goals.

The final match is scheduled for tomorrow at 18:00 in Cologne, where Berlin and Magdeburg will vie for the European title, while an earlier match at 15:00 will see Barcelona compete against Nantes for third place.
