Nacional’s Boys Shine Once More
Following an outstanding performance in Antalya in early April, where they secured second place at an international tournament against renowned European clubs, the boys from the Nacional Football School (U10) in Podgorica have once again made their mark.
During the “May Day Tournament Zlatibor 2025”, the group of players born in 2015 clinched 1st place, proudly taking home the trophy and gold medals after an extraordinary penalty shootout of 11:10 (the game ended 1:1 in regular time) against Radnički from Novi Beograd.
Approximately 30 teams from across the region (including Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, and Montenegro) participated in the tournament.
“After the remarkable showing in Antalya, where the boys felt unjustly deprived of the title due to the blatant bias of a local Turkish referee in the final, I reassured them that one day things would balance out. And it indeed did quite swiftly; fortune smiled upon us when it was most needed during the thrilling penalty shootout in the final,” states coach Nenad Laković.
While results at this age aren’t the ultimate objective, winning the cup and achieving first place brings immense joy to the boys, especially following the slight in Turkey.
“To lift the cup in such competitive surroundings, amidst so many teams, is an impressive accomplishment. It serves as a testament to the dedicated efforts put forth with this talented generation, now culminating in the most delightful way,” concludes Laković.
