The women’s pioneer volleyball team is competing in the Balkan Championship in Pljevlja from June 19 to 23, serving as a precursor for the upcoming European Championship, which is set to take place from July 2 to 13 in Pristina.

Under the guidance of coach Petar Koković, the team is eager to demonstrate its capabilities on the European stage following a strong showing in the qualifiers.

This team represents more than just athletic achievements; it embodies a narrative of hard work, commitment, and success across various domains, as noted by odbojka.me.

Among the 16 athletes representing Montenegro, six have graduated from elementary school with a “Luča” diploma: Andrijana Moračanin, Marija Zlajić, Đina Lekić, Jana Mrdak, Minja Mišević, and Staša Jovović.

Additionally, six team members are honors students, highlighting that this squad consists of young women adept at balancing both academic and athletic demands.

“We take great pride in the fact that they excel on the court as well as academically. We aim to foster this mindset, encouraging them to be diligent, serious, and proficient in all their endeavors,” remarked coach Koković.

With the school year successfully completed, their full attention is now on volleyball.

“Preparations are proceeding as planned, and thankfully there are no injury issues, which is crucial for team building and our aspirations for a successful debut at the European Championship. We are going there to compete fiercely, to play passionately, and aim for victory. While we’re not looking too far ahead, we’re confident in our ability to confront any opponent. The girls believe in their abilities, and they have cultivated a genuine team spirit, which is the most critical factor,” stated Koković.
