The Budućnost Voli basketball team triumphed over Borac from Čačak with a score of 86-23 tonight in Podgorica during the 69th round of the AdmiralBet ABA League, thereby securing their playoff position in the regional competition.

Though the “Blues” held a 22-point advantage at one stage (52:30), they fell apart during the third quarter, allowing Borac to execute a remarkable 21-0 run, leading 61:58 at the start of the final period.

In response, Budućnost rallied with 16 points to seize a 74:61 lead, ultimately clinching the victory as they continue their pursuit of a top position before the playoffs.

“We had two contrasting halves and one quarter where we underperformed. In the first half, we showcased our strengths—playing fast, being aggressive, and displaying teamwork. I was looking for a response, and we got it in those moments. In the third quarter, we allowed some last-second points, which let Borac gain confidence and play freely. Regarding our offense—scoring just six points that quarter stemmed from individual efforts and difficult shots,” Budućnost Voli coach Andrej Žakelj stated post-match.

Buducnost struggled to score for nearly seven minutes during the third quarter.

“My primary concern was defense, as we allowed 10 points in 26 minutes during the third quarter. We made a proper response in the final quarter. It was an unusual game—we really needed this win. We will analyze our performance. Our focus now is to fight, train, and prepare for the upcoming game,” Žakelj added.

In the next round, Buducnost will face Spartak away.
