The Public Institution Center for Sports and Recreation expressed satisfaction with the event’s organization and the strong turnout from the community.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to my family. My participation in this race is dedicated to my Iskra, Simona, and Tamara, who have been my immense support during a significant challenge. Every step today was for them, and I love you dearly,” stated Marko Maslovarić, director of the Center.
Opening the event, which attracted numerous participants to the city square, Mayor Petar Smolović noted that today we celebrate Montenegro’s most significant date—Independence Day—and welcomed all participants to the city of sports, unity, and youth.
“This day embodies pride, reminding us of the importance of unity, harmony, will, and collective energy for progressing the values symbolized by this race. The ‘Fun run Trči 2025’ is not merely a sporting event; it is a message of health, solidarity, and positive energy. It brings joy to see children, families, parents, recreational athletes, and everyone who wants to embrace a day of health and happiness. I am proud that Bijelo Polje is becoming a hub for celebrating sports and national values. Runners, enjoy every moment at your own pace, and let today remind us of the joy in community and a healthy spirit,” said Smolović.
Maslovarić highlighted that today symbolizes freedom, dignity, integrity, and primarily togetherness.
“These are the values that sport embraces, which is why we have established this race as a tradition to celebrate this significant holiday in Montenegro and promote movement, physical activity, and health. Our mission is to popularize recreation and sport as fundamental values and significantly contribute to society by laying a healthy foundation for future generations,” he added.
On Independence Day, Darko Raičević, the director of the “Run and Move” street race, also extended congratulations to the participants.
“I hope our guests enjoy their stay in our city, and I wish all competitors to achieve their personal bests. May the best runner win,” emphasized Raičević.
A variety of races for children, including cicibanki races and a school competition for the Fastest “Super Student” (Female) and Fastest “Super Student” (Male), were also held during the day.
