We are playing against stronger opponents, but I am sure we will see good things

Facing Tougher Opponents, but I’m Confident We’ll Shine

The Montenegrin volleyball team kicks off their inaugural participation in the CEV Golden League today with a match against Romania.

They will face the tournament hosts first, followed by another match against Latvia this Saturday. Both games are set to begin at 18:30 PM.

The team has been preparing for the Golden League in Podgorica, where they played two friendly matches against Austria and feel ready for their debut.

However, they’ll be missing key players due to injuries, specifically corrector Milutin Pavićević and serve receiver Vukašin Cimbaljević.

“The players have put in a lot of hard work, training diligently and giving their all in every session. We faced some challenges in our preparations, particularly with the injuries to Milutin Pavićević and Vukašin Cimbaljević, both of whom we were relying on. But these things happen, and we must find ways to adapt. We have players ready to step in, so we will lean on them,” Jevtić remarked.

On paper, both Romania and Latvia appear to be stronger teams than Montenegro.

“We need to be realistic—these are presently stronger teams, but I am confident we will give our best performance and showcase positive aspects from the Montenegrin national team,” Jevtić stated.

The second Golden League tournament will take place in Podgorica from June 13th to 15th, where our team will host the Czech Republic and Finland.

For the third tournament, set for June 20-22 in North Macedonia, Montenegro will compete against Israel and the host nation.

The final tournament of the Golden League is scheduled for July 4th to 6th in Brno, Czech Republic.

Service Recipients: Nemanja Peruničić, Vasilije Milenković, Benjamin Hadžisalihović, and Milan Rovčanin;

Setters: Djordje Jovovic and Luka Lojic;

Middle Blockers: Luka Babić, Nikola Đurović, Matija Ćinćur, and Dalibor Lečić;

Libero: Andrija Joksimović and Stefan Radević.
