Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique expressed that his team demonstrated their true spirit during the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Arsenal, emphasizing that a strong start was key to securing their victory in that match.
On Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain earned a 1-0 win against Arsenal in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.
“We are aware of the challenges posed by the match, as the atmosphere in the stadium was extraordinary. I believe we displayed the correct mentality; we started strong, which helped build our confidence,” Enrique stated, according to the club’s official site.
The second leg is set for May 7th in Paris, with the victor of this matchup advancing to face the winner of the Barcelona-Inter clash in the Champions League final.
“This is a significant moment for us, yet we must recover and focus on the upcoming game. The second leg will be intense and competitive. We are pleased, and I think our fans can take pride in our mentality and dedication to compete in every match,” Enrique continued.
The PSG coach noted that there is still room for improvement in his team’s performance.
“We are glad, but we know we can enhance our game. Everyone is aware of that,” Enrique remarked.
Enrique also extended his gratitude to the Paris Saint-Germain supporters, highlighting the importance of their backing.
“There are many feelings involved, but we should relish the support from our fans, as they are exceptional every time. There were 2,500 of them present now, and everyone felt their encouragement for the team. We understand it will be tough, with moments of challenge ahead, but with our fans’ support and the determination we’ve shown, we will demonstrate the caliber of our team,” he added.
