A single ball was the difference between his team and qualification for the European Championship’s main round. None of the three teams in Munich managed to outplay the “lions,” making the continuation of the partnership with the Croatian coach somewhat anticipated.

Vlado Šola has confirmed he will remain the head coach of the Montenegrin handball team, as he disclosed during the Incubator Podcast.

“We have reached an agreement in principle. While we haven’t signed the official documents yet, we have mutually agreed to continue working together. I am thrilled to remain in Montenegro,” Šola stated.

The former Olympic and world champion took over coaching the “lions” in February of the previous year. After managing Montenegro through a series of not-so-convincing performances toward the end of the European Championship qualifiers, he finally secured everything at the continental championship.

The “lions” missed qualifying by a mere point in matches against Hungary and Iceland, determined by the last attempts of Branko Vujović and Vuk Borozan. The victory against Serbia was particularly significant as the team prepares for upcoming major competitions.

Šola and the “lions” now turn their focus to the play-offs for the 2025 World Cup, scheduled for May 8 or 9, and again on May 11 or 12.

The national team will find out its play-off opponents from the first hat during the draw set to take place in Cologne on January 27.
