Cleveland Defeats Atlanta; Washington Matches Franchise Record

The Cleveland Cavaliers secured a victory against the Atlanta Hawks, winning 137-115 and handing Atlanta its seventh consecutive defeat in the NBA.

Darius Garland led the Cavaliers with 26 points and seven assists, while Donovan Mitchell contributed 24 points and six assists. Ty Jerome added 20 points, Evan Mobley recorded 16 points along with 10 rebounds and four assists, and Jarrett Allen chipped in with nine points and 15 rebounds.

Garland and Mobley have been selected as reserve players for the upcoming All-Star Game, while Mitchell was previously announced as part of the Eastern Conference’s first team.

With a record of 39 wins and nine losses, Cleveland currently holds the best record in the league, just ahead of Oklahoma, which stands at 37 wins and nine losses. The Cavaliers also boast the best home record, with 23 wins and just three losses.

On the other side, last year’s first overall pick, Zachary Rissacher, was the standout for Atlanta, scoring 30 points, while Deandre Hunter contributed 25 points, successfully hitting all 12 of his free throw attempts.

Trae Young finished with 15 points and 10 assists, meanwhile Serbian player Bogdan Bogdanović missed his second consecutive game and could potentially leave the team.

The Los Angeles Lakers triumphed over Washington with a score of 134-96, marking their fifth win in the last six games. LeBron James led the Lakers with 24 points and 11 assists through the first three quarters, while Rui Hachimura and Shake Milton added 22 and 21 points, respectively.

In the last quarter, Bronny James, LeBron’s son, scored five points along with two rebounds and two assists.

This loss marked Washington’s 16th straight defeat, tying a franchise record. It is the second time this season the Wizards have faced such a losing streak, making them the worst team in the league with only six wins and 41 losses. The top performers for Washington included Jordan Poole with 19 points, Kyle Kuzma with 13 points, and Corey Kispert with 11 points. Former Partizan player Tristan Vukčević contributed nine points and three rebounds.

Minnesota triumphed over Utah with a score of 138-113, claiming their fifth consecutive victory. Anthony Edwards was the highlight for Minnesota, scoring 36 points, with 16 coming in the third quarter, along with 11 assists, six rebounds, and three blocks. He was named to the All-Star reserve team.

Rob Dillingham added 19 points and eight assists, while Rudy Gobert and Luka Garza both recorded 16 points each.

Utah, suffering its eighth straight loss, saw Keyonte George lead with 23 points, followed by Colin Sexton with 19 points, and Jordan Clarkson and John Collins contributing 16 points each.

In other matchups, Portland defeated Orlando 119-90, while Memphis edged out Houston, earning their sixth victory in the last seven games.
