16-year-old Montenegrin basketball sensation Đorđe Đukanović has had a standout debut season with the Proteas. The young talent from Cetinje moved to Greece last summer and quickly took on the role of team captain and leader.

After starting with the Proteas juniors, he advanced to the U21 team and trained with the senior squad. Under Đukanović’s leadership, the juniors achieved remarkable results this season, making history by qualifying for the Greek elite in his age category for the first time—averaging 23.9 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists.

“I take pride in our team and myself. We met our objective by securing a spot among the six teams that will compete in the elite league next year. I participated in several games with the U21 team, where younger players like me had the opportunity to learn from the veterans, which significantly aided us in our matchups against U18 teams,” Đukanović shared with “Vijesti”.

He performed impressively throughout the season, particularly recalling two standout games.

“I would highlight two matches. The first was against Olympiacos, the top team in the league, where I scored 38 points. The second was against Ionikos in the final round—our match for the Elite, where I scored 39 points,” Đukanović recounted.

The Cetinje native wore the captain’s armband for the Greek squad this season.

“Being captain was incredibly meaningful for me, especially being in a different country—that’s a testament to how much faith the Proteas had in me. As the youngest team member, being given the chance to lead instilled even more confidence in me,” Đukanović explained, noting his move to Greece from Lovćen last summer.

In late November of last year, Đorđe participated in the Euroleague’s “Adidas Next Generation Tournament” (ANGT).

“Competing in the ANGT in Istanbul was a fantastic experience before I continue my career. The tournament showcased talented players that the Next Generation coaching staff identified potential in, and being among the 12 best players at the Euroleague U18 tournament is a significant achievement. I am committed to working even harder on my skills,” Đukanović stated.
