Montenegrin coach Duško Ivanovic faced one of the most challenging defeats in his illustrious career in Belgrade, against a team he had previously managed.

The Red Star basketball team decisively defeated Virtus in the 31st round of the Euroleague – 88:52, marking the club’s most convincing victory to date in European competition.

A telling indicator of Virtus’s struggles is that they managed only 27 points by halftime, and just 37 by the end of the third quarter…

However, more significant for Giannis Sferopoulos’s squad than just the resounding victory is that they secured their position in the playoff zone with an 18-13 record, while Ivanovic’s team once again demonstrated why they have struggled all season.

Red Star’s largest victory in the Euroleague prior to this was by 33 points against Panathinaikos (81:48), and that was precisely the score reflected on the scoreboard at the Belgrade Arena after Miloš Teodosić’s three-pointer, bringing the score to 81:48 with three and a half minutes remaining.

The “red and white” didn’t stop there and went on to achieve an impressive plus 36, marking a record victory in Euroleague history.

Dejan Davidovac contributed 17 points for the winning side, while Filip Petrushev added 16 points (along with six assists and four rebounds), Cody Miller McIntyre scored 11, and Ajzea Kenan chipped in nine…

On the opposing side, Tornike Shengelia scored 13 points, with Will Clyburn close behind with 12.

Earlier that evening, Anadolu Efes defeated Baskonia with a score of 92:76 in Istanbul.
