The Freedom and Justice Party of Serbia has lodged a criminal complaint with the Belgrade Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime against “responsible officials appointed by the National Assembly, the President of Serbia, and the Government, along with their operatives,” citing “the use of illegal sound weapons against peaceful citizens” during a protest in Belgrade on March 15th.

“This act endangered the populace intentionally, aiming to incite chaos and harm, essentially perpetrating terror against its own citizens. While citizens were peacefully honoring the victims in the area between Knez Miloševa and Kralja Milutin Street, the regime authorized the use of weapons not permitted by any law of the Republic of Serbia. This cruel action led to severe physical and psychological effects, including hearing impairment, dizziness, panic, and fear. The crowd included both children and the elderly,” the statement, as reported by N1, reads.

Furthermore, it was stated that “the deployment of sound weapons constitutes an abuse of official power, poses a general hazard, amounts to torture, and jeopardizes citizens’ safety, marking violent conduct and an attempt to suppress the freedom of assembly.”

“Although SNS official and MP Vladimir Đukanović promptly asserted that a sonic cannon was used and exposed the government, it quickly began to provide unconvincing denials and engaged the head of the Belgrade Police Department, Nenad Stefanović, to shield the assailants and prosecute the victims. This serves as further evidence that justice is absent—only the regime’s terror persists. The perpetrators will face accountability before independent institutions and will be remembered in history as those who committed a disgraceful act of repression against their own people,” the SSP states.
