Pero Milošević’s third tenure as head coach of Lovcen was notably brief, as he and the club agreed to terminate their cooperation after just half a season.

Recognized as the most successful coach in the history of Montenegro’s top club, Milošević guided them to the Champions League quarter-finals in his first term, claimed two national championship titles, a Cup of SR Yugoslavia, and secured a second double crown in Montenegro.

This season, he led his local team in the EHF Europa League, but unfortunately, they did not secure any points in a challenging group that included Flensburg, Kadeten Schaffhausen, and Elverum.

In the domestic league, however, he achieved a perfect record with eight wins, including a victory against their main rival, Budva Riviera, effectively clinching the title.

“It is correct that we reached a mutual termination of cooperation,” stated Lovcen president Vido Đakonović to “Vijesti.”

Despite having a contract until June 2025, Milošević requested the termination.

“We agreed very swiftly when I arrived, and we parted ways in a dignified and gentlemanly manner. I attended training to say goodbye to the players and my former colleague Filip Popović, wishing them well and success in claiming the double crown they deserve,” the 62-year-old expressed to “Vijesti.”

This latest tenure was also marked by a notable incident in the 6th round of the European League, where he substituted Vuk Borozan just four minutes into the game after the veteran left back used inappropriate language towards his teammates.

He opted not to reintroduce Borozan into the match, and following a victory over Serbia at the European Championship, Borozan remarked, “I congratulate Mr. Pero Milošević.”

Borozan has since left to join Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hada, and it is possible that more experienced players may follow suit.

Filip Popović has been appointed as the new coach of Lovcen.

The former center back of “Reds” has spent several years working with the junior teams of Lovcen and Danilovgrad, where cadets from Cetinje played.

Currently, he serves as the coach of Montenegro’s cadet national team and was an assistant to Draško Mrvaljević at the previous World Junior Championship in Croatia.

Additionally, he was an assistant to both Pero Milošević and Vlatko Đonović for the senior team in Cetinje.

Popović hails from a handball family, as his brother Blažo captained Lovcen for many years.
